Getting professional repairs done for your air conditioner when it needs it is one of those services you don’t want to put off. Delaying AC repairs can leave you with a completely broken down machine, and no way to stay comfortable throughout the rest of our long and hot summer.
We encourage our customers to take care of their systems as soon as they realize they need a repair. But, how do you know when it’s time for air conditioning repairs?
Luckily for you, we shared some signs below that it is, in fact, time to call for repairs, or at least to have your air conditioner inspected by a professional to see what’s going on.

If your air conditioner is showing unusual symptoms, even if it’s running “okay,” it’s probably time to give us a call. What we run into fairly often with residential air conditioning systems is that homeowners wait until the air conditioner breaks down completely to call us. By then, whatever repair need they had likely grew into something unnecessarily expensive to repair. We say unnecessarily because the truth is, most repair needs show symptoms that could be managed far sooner.
You are going to need air conditioning repairs eventually. No air conditioner is perfect. There is no way to guarantee 100% reliability with any AC system. While routine air conditioning maintenance will keep your system as effective and reliable as possible, there is still the chance for problems to develop. What types of problems? Anything from refrigerant leaks to motor issues and capacitor failure.
Wouldn’t it be great if your air conditioner would sent you a text message when something is wrong with it? What if you could avoid sudden breakdowns and expensive repairs? We agree, that’d be pretty awesome! Maybe one day this will be the case, but for now, it’s up to you as a homeowner to be diligent in your care for your AC system.
Air conditioners are complex systems that rely on a number of various components in order to function. If something goes wrong with even one of these components, it can bring your cooling efficiency and effectiveness to a halt. This is why we recommend calling a trained HVAC professional at the first sign of trouble.
